About us

Screen time worthhaving

LearningKid started with a small, stubborn question: why is almost everything made for children on a screen designed to keep them there, rather than to teach them something and let them go?

What we are

A small library of short courses, taught by real teachers

Every course on LearningKid is made by a practising educator — a classroom teacher, a tutor, a museum educator, a working scientist — who applied, was checked by a person, and had their course reviewed before a single family could buy it.

We are deliberately not a feed. There is no infinite scroll, no autoplay into the next thing, and no advertising anywhere on the platform. A child opens the lesson they were on, watches it, and is finished. Parents can see exactly what was watched and how far along their child is, without reading a dashboard for ten minutes.

Courses are bought once and kept. There is no subscription that quietly renews, and a refund inside seven days is one click if less than a fifth of the course was watched.

How we build it

Four decisions everything else follows from

  • Short lessons, finished lessons

Most lessons run under eight minutes, because that is roughly how long a seven-year-old stays genuinely engaged. Progress is measured by what was actually watched, not by where the scrub bar was dropped.

  • Captions are a gate, not a nicety

A course cannot be published without captions on every video. A child who reads along, watches with the sound off, or is deaf gets the same lesson as everyone else.

  • Reviewed by a person

Every educator is approved by a human before they can publish, and every course passes a second human review before a family can buy it. No autoplay, no ads, no recommendation rabbit holes.

  • Finishing is the point

A certificate arrives when a course is genuinely complete — not when it was opened. We would rather a child finish four courses than start forty.

Children and data

What we collect, plainly

Accounts belong to adults. A child profile is a name and an optional age on a parent's account — it is not a separate login, and children do not have passwords, email addresses, or messaging of any kind on LearningKid.

We record which lessons were watched and for how long, because that is what makes resume-where-you-left-off and a truthful progress bar possible. We do not sell that to anyone, we do not use it to target advertising, and there is no advertising to target. The full detail is in the privacy policy.

For educators

An 80% share and honest numbers

Educators keep 80% of every sale. Upload a video and the platform handles transcoding, caption generation and adaptive streaming, so a course does not need a production budget to look right on a phone on a train.

The analytics show which lesson loses students and where in that lesson they stop — the number that actually helps you fix a course, rather than a vanity chart.
