Five kitchen science experiments that are worth the mess
Every one of these uses something already in your kitchen, and every one of them has a real explanation behind it.
Five kitchen science experiments that are worth the mess
The best experiments are the ones where the result is surprising enough to demand an explanation. Baking soda and vinegar qualifies. Dissolving sugar in water, honestly, does not.
Start with red cabbage indicator. Boil chopped cabbage, keep the purple water, and test everything in the cupboard with it. Lemon juice goes pink, bicarbonate goes green, and the question "why" has a real answer a nine-year-old can follow.
The rule for all five: predict first, then test. A prediction that turns out wrong is the most valuable thing that can happen in a science lesson.
