Reading aloud is still the highest-leverage thing you can do

Reading aloud is still the highest-leverage thing you can do
Reading aloud to a child who can already read themselves feels redundant. It is not. Listening comprehension runs years ahead of reading comprehension, so a read-aloud book can carry ideas and vocabulary that a child could not yet reach on the page.
Fifteen minutes is enough. Consistency matters far more than length.
Stop at a good moment rather than at a chapter break. Wanting to know what happens next is the whole engine.
